![]() ![]() The mechanics of the Gun Survivor games, which attempt to combine the mechanics of a traditional first-person shooter and the mechanics of a light-gun game, have always been pretty clunky. The whole experience is an odd blend of standard Resident Evil fare and light-gun action. Though you'll occasionally get brief bits of back story in the form of cutscenes and documents you find on the ship, ultimately, all you need to know is that there are zombies to kill, and it's up to you to kill 'em. Along the way you'll run into Fongling, a Chinese government agent who is aboard the cruise ship for the same reason, and you'll also end up playing as her. Duvall, the antagonist in Resident Evil 0, from spreading the T-virus any further. You start off playing as Bruce McGivern, a US government agent sent to stop Morpheus D. Much like Resident Evil Gaiden for the Game Boy Color, Resident Evil: Dead Aim puts you on a cruise ship teeming with zombies infected with the T-virus. ![]() Though not a Resident Evil game in the traditional sense, it does capture the pacing and the tone of the series fairly well, and it's generally the best Gun Survivor game released to date.Īll you need to know is that there are zombies to kill, and it's up to you to kill 'em. In an effort to satiate PS2 owners while maintaining its deal with Nintendo, Capcom has released Resident Evil: Dead Aim (which goes by the more unwieldy name Gun Survivor 4: BioHazard: Heroes Never Die in Japan) for the PlayStation 2. Now watch the credits.There's been a distinct survival horror vacuum on the PlayStation 2 ever since Capcom decided to release the core Resident Evil games exclusively on the GameCube. ![]() The creature will die, the world will be saved (kinda) and another chapter of Resident Evil will come to a close. It's the same fight as the last time, so just target the head and pop. Use the magnum or assault rifle to get the job done. It's locked, so turn and face Morpheus one last time. Tromp across it and try to access the control room. Dodge the zombies and keep following the instructions to get to another set of double doors. In the next hallway, head forward, and turn right when instructed to. Hold it at bay until Fongling opens the shutter, then scoot through. The assault rifle works well for the task, as does the magnum. Of course, this is the time when Morpheus chooses to come at you again, in its new "mountain form." As its red head pokes out of the massive body target and shoot it. As you come to the end, you find out that the shutter is locked. Head through the double doors to another bridge. Go left down the next hallway, then right at the T-intersection. Dodge the zombies, then take a left when told to do so. Move forward, then turn right at the next intersection. There are goodies stashed in these halls, but if you're doing okay on items, it's best just to keep truckin'. ![]() In the next hall, head straight forward, then follow the path left. Through the next door, you'll see a cut scene of the beast that Morpheus has now become. Head straight forward across the bridge and exit through the steel doors. It never is.Īfter the cut scene, you will have 5:00 to get out of Dodge. After several direct hits, the mutated hussy will drop. It will sometimes flit from side to side to dodge your bursts, so wait until it's gearing up to attack to knock it down. You do not want to be hit with it.Īlmost all of Morpheus' attacks can be avoided with well-timed presses of the escape button. To take it down, shoot it with bursts of the Particle Cannon as it nears you. If it pauses at a distance, it's gathering up a shockwave attack. If it gets up close, it will try to knock you down with its long, claw-like fingers. If it leaps into the air and begins to spin, watch out, as Morpheus is about to torpedo toward you. Be prepared to move and put some space between the two of you. When the fight begins, the boss will instantly attack. much more so than anything you've faced to this point in the game. Then step through the gray door.īoss: Morpheus The first incarnation of Morpheus is quite difficult to deal with. Grab the grenade rounds, shotgun rounds, assault rifle rounds, green herb and medicinal spray, then all of the handgun rounds you can still carry. The room below is the final save room before the big boss. ![]()
